Early has gone 8-2 against Millsap recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Longhorns will host the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Early will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Early is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Dublin 17-7 on Friday. The Longhorns not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 11th.
Chris Ivy looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Early let Jack Nowell and Jaxson Stockman run wild. Nowell scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances, while Stockman went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Stockman a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Moya, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.
Early always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Millsap, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over Eastland on Friday.
Brandon Savage was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Millsap is 2-1 when Savage allows one or fewer hits, but 7-10 otherwise. Savage was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Reid Green was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. CR Tippie was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Early's victory bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Millsap, their win bumped their record up to 9-11.
Early was able to grind out a solid victory over Millsap when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 5-2. Will the Longhorns repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
