Basketball Recap: South Takes a Loss

South was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 71-49 to the Natrona County Mustangs. The Bison were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-18.

When it comes to explaining why South lost, don't look at Dezmond Waters. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. Waters' afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Aiden Mitchell, who posted six points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, South smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

South's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Natrona County, their victory bumped their record up to 2-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South will challenge Laramie at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Laramie's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games. As for Natrona County, they will venture away from home to take on Star Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Natrona County is facing Star Valley at the right time seeing as Star Valley is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
