Basketball Recap: ED White Falls Despite Big Games from Leandrea Mccloud and Karli Torres

It was a good run, but ED White unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 47-39 to the Ponte Vedra Sharks. The Commanders lost against the Sharks in their previous head to head back in January of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 68-32 score last time.

ED White's loss came despite strong showings from Karli Torres and Leandrea Mccloud. Torres dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 boards, while Mccloud went 5 for 12 on her way to 12 points and eight rebounds. That's the most boards Torres has posted since back in December of 2024. Leylianna Love was another key player, putting up six points.

Even though they lost, ED White smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in ten consecutive matchups.

Ponte Vedra found their leader in freshman Jocelyn Hoffmann, who went 7 of 12 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and four steals. Those 25 points set a new season-high mark for Hoffmann. Another player making a difference was Arden Doherty, who posted six points.

ED White now has a losing record at 13-14. As for Ponte Vedra, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-11.

ED White will challenge Englewood at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. ED White is facing Englewood at the right time seeing as Englewood is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. Ponte Vedra does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
