Basketball Recap: Vista del Lago Takes a Loss

Vista del Lago lost against Perris back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Vista del Lago Ravens lost to the Perris Panthers at home by a 74-58 margin.

Despite the defeat, Vista del Lago saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ja'Marion Jackson went 13 for 21 on his way to 29 points and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jackson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinton Jinna-Smith, who posted eight points.

Even though they lost, Vista del Lago was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

Vista del Lago has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-18 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.2 points per game. As for Perris, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vista del Lago will take on Lakeside at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lakeside is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.5 points per game this season. As for Perris, they will face off against Hemet at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Perris sitting on four straight victories and Hemet on 17.
