Walnut Grove waltzed into their match on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victor by a 15-1 margin over the Sherman Bearcats. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wildcats also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.
Lyndsey Hooker made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time she hasn't allowed a single hit since back in February. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played.
In other pitching news, Naomi Redman looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Kailee James and Vivian McKernan did most of the damage at the plate: James fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-2, while McKernan went 2-for-3 with one home run, seven RBI, and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave McKernan a new career-high in RBI. Penelope Robles was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Walnut Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sherman only posted an OBP of .167.

Walnut Grove's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Sherman, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13-1.
Looking ahead, Walnut Grove will head out to square off against McKinney North at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. McKinney North has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.75 runs per game on average), something Walnut Grove will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Sherman, they will take on Anna at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sherman has given up an average of 12.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
