Football Game Preview: Jena Giants vs. Union Parish Farmers + How To Watch

Jena is 0-3 against Union Parish since November of 2018 but things could change on Friday. The Giants will be playing at home against the Farmers at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Jena comes in on seven and Union Parish on three.

Jena is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They put the hurt on Mansfield with a sharp 44-20 win. Considering the Giants have won nine matchups by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

It was another big night for Daniel Hatcher, who rushed for 205 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 carries. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 119 rushing yards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Sedrick Wilson, who gained 119 total yards.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Union Parish ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They managed a 20-14 victory over Kinder. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Farmers were the better team in the second half.

The critical scores for Union Parish came from J'Veon Henderson, Davonte Brazle, and Chance Hopson.

Union Parish didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Hopson and Khaidyn Johnson. Union Parish got some further help from Marcus Ross: he made 13 total tackles (2.0 for loss) and defended one pass.

Jena's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Union Parish, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.

Jena came up short against Union Parish when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 24-16. Thankfully for the Giants, Jy'Marion Island (who rushed for 188 yards and one score while picking up 7.2 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time.
