Avondale and Lahser played the most hotly contested game in Oakland - Blue this week, with Avondale eventually emerging with a 21-19 victory. Michael Johnson ran for 183 yards and caught one passes for 20 yards in the win.
The Yellowjackets made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,374 from 5,718. The improvement came about via a 21-19 victory over the Knights last week.
Ferndale's Eric Ellis and Desmond Paige have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Ellis has thrown for 1123 yards this season, while Paige, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 27 catches for 398 yards. Avondale's Joshuwa Holloman leads the league in rushing yards with 788.
