With a playoff win on the line, Lane Tech rose to the challenge on Monday. They never let the Intrinsic Mustangs get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory. The Champions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matches by seven runs or more this season.
Laura Irving looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.
On the hitting side, Olivia Segura was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Brobson, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Lane Tech has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Intrinsic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-2-1.
Coming up, Lane Tech will welcome Northside at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in the Champions' favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while the Mustangs have been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road. Intrinsic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
