On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Tonopah's defense and their four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. They received some extra help from Remington Cobb, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, Carlin faced Wells in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Railroaders simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Leopards 46-12. The win continues a trend for the Railroaders in their matchups with the Leopards: they've now won five in a row.
Tonopah better keep an eye on Gage Lewis. He was instrumental in Carlin's win, rushing for 144 yards and one score while picking up 8.0 yards per carry, and also throwing for 147 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten passes. Those 144 rushing yards gave Lewis a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tryston Martinez, who rushed for 51 yards and one TD.
Tonopah's record is now 11-0. As for Carlin, their record now sits at 9-1.
Everything came up roses for Tonopah against Carlin in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 64-8 victory. Do the Muckers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Railroaders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
