Ainsworth took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 61-13 victory over Gordon-Rushville. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-4.
Leading Ainsworth to victory were Trey Appelt and Traegan McNally. Appelt scored 17 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals, while McNally scored 24 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Appelt has scored at least 25% of Ainsworth's points. Another player making a difference was Carter Nelson, who scored 6 points along with 8 assists.
Ainsworth's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Gordon-Rushville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Ainsworth will be playing in front of their home fans against West Holt at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Gordon-Rushville, they will head out on the road to face off against Crawford on Tuesday. Hopefully Crawford focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Saturday.
