The Pascack Valley Panthers had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They skirted past River Dell 49-47. For Pascack Valley, this counts as revenge for the 57-55 defeat River Dell walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Despite the loss, River Dell still got an impressive performance from Sean Golden, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds. Pat Sweeny was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Pascack Valley's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for River Dell, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Pascack Valley will be home for the holidays to greet Northern Highlands at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Northern Highlands and Pascack Valley are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads. As for River Dell, they will head out on the road to face off against Dwight Morrow at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
