Houston hasn't had much luck against Lyle/Pacelli recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Hurricanes will head out to take on the Athletics at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Houston was handed a 12-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Mabel-Canton 11-10. The Hurricanes haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Morgan Rohweder made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up four earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Houston is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 4-10 otherwise. Rohweder was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Coltin Groth, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dawson Pedretti, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Houston kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mabel-Canton only managed seven hits.
Meanwhile, Lyle/Pacelli had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Rebels. Considering the Athletics have won nine games by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Lyle/Pacelli's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Houston, their record is now 7-10.
Houston came out on top in a nail-biter against Lyle/Pacelli when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hurricanes since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
