The Clarkdale Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the Wayne County War Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Clarkdale took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They blew past Scott Central 13-1. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Rebels recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Kaela Edmonds made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Bella Castillo and Abby Mowery did most of the damage at the plate: Castillo scored two runs while going 2-for-2, while Mowery scored two runs while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Mowery a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Delaney Ellington, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Clarkdale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Wayne County never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Laurel with a sharp 20-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the War Eagles.
Madison Stokley looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Wayne County let Gracie Swindle and Annah Carr run wild. Swindle went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Carr went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Carr also hit two doubles, marking her first of the season. Karson Tate was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2.
The victory got Clarkdale back to even at 9-9. As for Wayne County, their record is now 5-11-1.
Clarkdale was able to grind out a solid win over Wayne County in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 6-2. Will Clarkdale repeat their success, or does Wayne County has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
