Softball Recap: Bronson Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Bronson hadn't done well against Dixie County recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bronson Eagles' pitcher stepped up to hand the Dixie County Bears a 6-0 shutout. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.

Dixie County's batters probably weren't too happy with Julianne Lampton, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 13 Ks (she gave up zero walks). That's the fewest walks Lampton has allowed since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brystal Howard, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Dean, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

The victory was the third in a row for Bronson, bringing their record for this year to 7-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Dixie County, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bronson will face off against Seven Rivers Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bronson is facing Seven Rivers Christian at the right time seeing as Seven Rivers Christian is stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Dixie County, they will take on Union County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
