On Thursday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Alice beat IDEA North Mission 51-46. Given Alice's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 585th, while IDEA North Mission is ranked 1196th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Alejandro Asevedo, who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Trevino, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Alice is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for IDEA North Mission, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9-1.
Alice will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Calallen at 7:30 p.m. Calallen is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for IDEA North Mission, they will head out on the road to face off against IDEA College Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. IDEA College Prep is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
