For the first time this season, Madison-Grant will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will square off against the Eastbrook Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Eastbrook will be up against a hot Madison-Grant team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Argylls blew past Frankton 13-2 on Friday.
Xavier Yeagy was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Madison-Grant let Levi Nelson and Luke Gilman run wild. Nelson went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Gilman went 3-for-4 with three runs and two doubles. Nelson has become a key player for Madison-Grant: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Tripp Haisley also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Madison-Grant kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Frankton only managed six hits.
Eastbrook came out on top against Northfield on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run sixth inning. The Panthers never let the Norsemen get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory.
Carter Daugherty made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.
In other batting news, Will Hodson and Reid Aupperle did most of the damage at the plate: Hodson went 1-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Aupperle got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those five RBI gave Hodson a new career-high. Kyler Hackman was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Eastbrook now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Madison-Grant, their record is now 6-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Madison-Grant has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Eastbrook struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Madison-Grant took their win against Eastbrook when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 7-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Argylls since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
