The Fairfield Falcons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight defeat. They were the victim of a tough 77-56 loss at the hands of Cunningham. While losing is never fun, Fairfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 297th, while the Wildcats are ranked 125th).
Cunningham was led to victory by Luke Albers and Will Wegerer. Albers dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds, while Wegerer shot 5-for-8 from deep and dropped a double-double on 35 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wegerer has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dagim Reed, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Fairfield has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Cunningham, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairfield will take on the Bulldogs at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Attica is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Cunningham, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
