The San Augustine Wolves came tearing into Friday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Broaddus with points to spare, taking the game 58-42. Given San Augustine's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 679th, while Broaddus is ranked 1553rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
San Augustine found their leader in underclassman Joshua Roland, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of D'Adrian Renfro, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
San Augustine is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for Broaddus, their loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-15.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Chireno the next time they take the court. Broaddus will head out to face Chireno at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while San Augustine will host them at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
