The Regents Lions were the 54-49 winner over the New Covenant Gryphons when they last played one another back in February of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Regents took a serious blow against New Covenant on Tuesday, falling 66-33. Regents was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-16.
Regents' loss came despite strong showings from David Keppel and Tucker Jamison. Keppel scored 10 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals, while Jamison scored 11 points.
Leading New Covenant to victory were Tristan Isenhour and Douglas Powell. Isenhour scored 8 points along with 6 assists and 6 rebounds, while Powell scored 13 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals. The contest was Powell's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cole Bowman, who scored 9 points.
Regents' loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for New Covenant, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Regents will take on Timberlake Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for New Covenant, they will head out on the road to face off against Chelsea Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
