Basketball Recap: Seguin's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

There's no place like home for Seguin, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 46-23 margin over the Fox Tech Buffaloes on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Matadors have posted since December 26, 2024.

Seguin's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Britlyn Walls, who went 5 for 10 en route to 13 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Jazlyn Gil, who posted five points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

Seguin was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 assists per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.5.

Seguin moved to 13-18 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Fox Tech, they dropped their record down to 8-18 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Seguin will head out to square off against Lanier at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Seguin is facing Lanier at the right time seeing as Lanier is stuck on a 16-game losing streak. As for Fox Tech, they will be playing at home against Edison at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fox Tech will also cruise into their next match with the timing on their side: Edison will have lost five straight heading into Tuesday's contest.
