Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Grapeland walked away with it. They blew past the Alto Yellowjackets 16-6 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Sandies, who have now won five matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Grapeland got a massive performance out of Eli Deleon, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Deleon is becoming a predictor of the Sandies' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-6 when he doesn't). Gavin Ramirez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

The victory was the third in a row for Grapeland, bringing their record up to 7-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Alto, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.

Grapeland will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Yellowjackets: the pair will be back at it again later today.
