Softball Recap: Brook Hill Wins Going Away Against Spring Hill

Brook Hill's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Spring Hill Panthers a 12-0 shutout. The match marked the Guard's most dominant win of the season.

Karmen Miller made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Maddie Matheny was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Allyson Mathews also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Brook Hill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Brook Hill's record is now 3-4. As for Spring Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-12-1.

Brook Hill does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Spring Hill, they will host Chapel Hill at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a 15-game losing streak.
