If The Meridian Mustangs were riding high off their 56-7 takedown of the Manassas Park Cougars last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The matchup between Meridian and Skyline wasn't particularly close, with Meridian falling 34-20. Meridian lost against Skyline in their previous head to head back in September of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 54-8 score last time.
Aidan Vaught continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Skyline, rushing for 452 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 16.7 yards per carry. Vaught's longest rush was for an incredible 94 yards.
Meridian has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Skyline, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 3-5 record this season.
Meridian will look to defend their home field on Friday against Warren County at 7:00 p.m. Warren County is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Skyline, they will head out on the road to face off against Brentsville District at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Brentsville District presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Skyline in Virginia (Brentsville District is ranked 53rd, while Skyline is ranked 223rd).
