Chardon extended their winning streak to three on Monday, bumping their season record up to 14-10 in the process. They walked away with a 10-6 win over the Midview Middies. Ten seems to be a good number for the Hilltoppers as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Alexa Anderson made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sierra Taylor, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Gia Sharaba, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
As for Midview, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-10. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.
Like Chardon, Midview also got a great game from a two-way player: Savannah Holcomb. On the mound, she tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the fewest hits Holcomb has allowed since back in May of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, Midview got a big performance out of Dezirae Thomas, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Briana Farkas also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Looking ahead, Chardon will welcome Berea-Midpark at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Midview, they will take on Rocky River in a tournament on Thursday.
