South Portland scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Massabesic, 35-34. At the time, the Mustangs was ranked 19th in the state, while the Red Riots was 59th.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to South Portland, who took down 19th ranked Massabesic, 35-34.
Ken Sweet and Ken Sweet gave Deering a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Sweet threw for 128 yards and two touchdowns, while Sweet ran for 151 yards.
Scarborough's Dillon Russo and Greg Viola have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading A Southern Maine in both passing and receiving yards. Russo has thrown for 428 yards this season, while Viola, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has five catches for 149 yards. Sweet from the Rams leads the league in rushing with 653 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Cheverus and Bonny Eagle. The Stags comes into the matchup ranked first in the state, while the Scots ranks 19th.
Cheverus extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Gorham, 56-14. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Stags.
