Medomak Valley is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Maine's top teams: Leavitt, who was ranked 14th at the time (Medomak Valley was ranked 23rd). The Panthers were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Hornets on Wednesday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.
Kendall Wyman spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks.

Erskine Academy came out on top against Maine Central Institute on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 win over the Huskies. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Kelsie Dunn was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits. Medomak Valley pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Erskine Academy, their record is now 6-7.
Medomak Valley beat Erskine Academy 5-0 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
