Meanwhile, Northpoint Christian has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.8 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-10 victory over Houston.
Trinity Garvin made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hannah Bostain, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Katy Bobo, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.
Northpoint Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Northpoint Christian's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Lewisburg, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 12-7.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lewisburg hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .332. However, it's not like Northpoint Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .443. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
