Hobart got a massive performance out of Ladan Weinman, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Weinman is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nora Hornak, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Hobart kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Chesterton posted their closest win since April 26th on Thursday. They skirted past Valparaiso 11-9. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.
Hannah Florian was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Florian was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Jillienne Pittman was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Oliva Milton, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Chesterton now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Hobart, their record is now 13-14.
Hobart's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's match. The Brickies have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Chesterton, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Hobart continue to outrun the ball?
Hobart beat Chesterton 10-7 in their previous matchup back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Brickies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
