Basketball Recap: Classical Prep Finds Playoff Glory Versus Academy at the Lakes

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Classical Prep had no problem doing just that on Monday. They blew past the Academy at the Lakes Wildcats 59-34. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 25 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Kaelyn Malloy, who went 10 of 21 en route to 27 points and five boards. That makes it nine consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Classical Prep's points. Mia Milanes was another key player, going 6 for 13 on her way to 14 points.

Classical Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 15 consecutive matchups.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Siya Shah, who posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Ycenia Guevara, who put up ten points.

Classical Prep's victory bumped their record up to 13-10. As for Academy at the Lakes, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.

As of now, neither Classical Prep nor Academy at the Lakes have any future games scheduled.
