San Diego extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 10-11-1. They lost 25-4 to the Madison Warhawks. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Cavers have suffered against the Warhawks since April 6, 2017.
San Diego saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Myah Reyes-Rickman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
As for Madison, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7-1 record this season. The result was nothing new for Madison, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.
On Madison's side, Aniyah Shelby (2029) made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Shelby (2029) has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Madison got a massive performance out of Aryana Burnett (2029), who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs, five RBI, and two doubles. Those five RBI gave Burnett (2029) a new career-high. Olivia Rosas (2029) was another key player, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. San Diego is set to face off against their familiar foe Lincoln at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Madison will take on rival Mission Bay at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
