The Meridian Lions lost against the NYOS Charter Jaguars back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Meridian opened the new year with a less-than-successful 45-32 defeat to NYOS Charter. Meridian has struggled against NYOS Charter recently, as their match on Thursday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
NYOS Charter's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trey Huff, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. The matchup was Huff's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Colin Shelton was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meridian has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season. As for NYOS Charter, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Meridian will square off against Griffin School at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Griffin School comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for NYOS Charter, they will head out on the road to face off against Gateway College Preparatory at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
