The Mission Hills Grizzlies will square off against the Poway Titans at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Mission Hills 3.8, Poway 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Wednesday, Mission Hills needed a bit of extra time to put away Del Norte. They had just enough and edged out the Nighthawks 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Grizzlies have posted against the Nighthawks since May 28, 2021.
Oloa Motas made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Addison Russell was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Lillian Sengsouly was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Poway entered their tilt with San Pasqual on Wednesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Golden Eagles a 5-0 shutout.
Like Mission Hills, Poway also got a great game from a two-way player: Mya McGowan. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. McGowan was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Aubrey Stiritz looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Sophia Burmeister, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run. Another player making a difference was Ashleigh Ronsse, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one double.
Mission Hills now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Poway, their win bumped their record up to 15-4.
Mission Hills came out on top in a nail-biter against Poway when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 5-4. Do the Grizzlies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Titans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
