Blountstown and Sneads are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. Blountstown will head out on the road to challenge Sneads at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Blountstown knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Sneads likes a good challenge.
Blountstown had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 17-run drubbing they dealt Vernon on Thursday. Blountstown put the hurt on Vernon with a sharp 18-1 win. With that victory, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Daniel Pope was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Bryson Fleck was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Terrell Williams was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Blountstown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 12.4.
Meanwhile, Sneads hadn't done well against Marianna recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Sneads narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Marianna 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pirates have posted since March 12, 2024.
Aaron Williams and Isaiah Perkins did most of the damage at the plate: Williams scored a run while going 3-for-3, while Perkins scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Perkins has become a key player for Sneads: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Gaines, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Blountstown's win ended an eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-14. As for Sneads, they moved to 7-10 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Blountstown has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Sneads struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Blountstown was able to grind out a solid win over Sneads in their previous meeting back in February, winning 11-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for Blountstown since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
