Baseball Game Preview: Cornerstone Christian Chargers vs. Hope Christian Academy

For the first time this season, Cornerstone Christian will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Tuesday. They are taking a road trip to face off against Hope Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Having struggled with six losses in a row dating back to last season, Cornerstone Christian turned things around against Evangel Christian Academy on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 18-2 victory.

Noah Schober made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). Schober was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Xander Smith, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Mason Hoehn was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.

Meanwhile, Hope Christian Academy waltzed into their game on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Eagles 14-4. Considering Hope Christian Academy has won four matches by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Hope Christian Academy got a massive performance out of Aziah Amberson, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Kainen Bozeman, who scored three runs and stole Five bases. while going 2-for-4.

Hope Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Hope Christian Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cornerstone Christian, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
