Dunedin is 1-8 against Palm Harbor University since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Falcons will be playing at home against the Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Dunedin put up the most runs they have all season on Monday. Everything went their way against St. Petersburg as they made off with a 21-8 win. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by ten runs or more this season.
Aliyah Roseman was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maelaea Johnson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one stolen base.
Dunedin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Petersburg only posted an OBP of .393.
Meanwhile, Palm Harbor University entered their tilt with Academy of the Holy Names on Friday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They walked away with a 10-5 victory over the Jaguars.
Emma Shipley was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Jessica Baker was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Palm Harbor University's win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Dunedin, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Dunedin hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Palm Harbor University struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Dunedin might still be hurting after the 8-0 defeat they got from Palm Harbor University when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Will the Falcons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
