5A West recap September 17, 2013
Toney Hawkins and Rayshod Criswell provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Prairie Grove. The longest such play in 5A West this season, the connection resulted in 80 yards.
Harrison moved up to 56 from 89 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Goblins were able to make move up by besting Mountain Home 44-7.
Reese Heidenreich was the best receiver in the league this week as Morrilton defeated the Tigers. Heidenreich tallied 9 receptions for 153 yards. Criswell helped Morrilton's passing attack out by catching 8 balls for 141 yards.
Hawkins provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Devil Dogs bested Prairie Grove. He completed 20 passes for 328 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 34 yards.
Brock Humphrey threw for 238 yards and 4 touchdowns. He went 11-14 with 0 interceptions.
Sharaz Rhodes was the best running back in 5A West this week. He ran for 173 yards on 18 carries as Morrilton beat Danny Abshier's team.
Harrison Pavatt made the biggest impact on defense this week as Cody McNabb's team topped the Tigers. The 5-foot-9 sophomore.
Humphrey put up the best numbers in passing as Harrison topped the Bombers. Humphrey's favorite target this week was Silas Huskey, who caught 4 passes for 158 yards.
5-foot-10 quarterback Will Drewry of Greenbrier is the league leader in passing yards this season with 630. He has also thrown 8 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Heidenreich. The Morrilton star has 13 catches for 231 yards.
Huntsville was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from sixth to third in the league. The Eagles vanquished Berryville 13-7 earlier in the week.
