Medina has gone a perfect 6-0 against Shaker Heights recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Battling Bees will host the Red Raiders at 5:00 p.m. Medina is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Medina didn't have quite enough to beat Brunswick and fell 5-4. The Battling Bees have struggled against the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.
Medina saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Flemming, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Kelsey Swinko was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Shaker Heights was able to grind out a solid win over Strongsville on Monday, taking the game 5-2.
Scout Harvey made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Emerson Miller was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Shaker Heights is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Medina, they now have a losing record of 11-12.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Medina has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .445. However, it's not like Shaker Heights struggles in that department as they've averaged .479. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Medina took their win against Shaker Heights when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 12-0 score. Do the Battling Bees have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
