Idabel is on a eight-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Eufaula is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Idabel Warriors will take on the Eufaula Ironheads at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Idabel humbled Wilburton with a 49-7 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-0.
Idabel's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Waylon Phillips, who threw for 175 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 passes. Another player making a difference was Joseph Gibson, who picked up 126 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Eufaula blew past Hugo, posting a 45-12 win at home. Eufaula's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Their wins bumped Idabel to 8-0 and Eufaula to 7-2.
Idabel couldn't quite finish off Eufaula when the teams last played back in November of 2022 and fell 24-21. Will Idabel have more luck at home instead of on the road?
