4A Region III District 19 recap September 24, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in 4A Region III District 19 this week, Crosby beat Dayton 33-27,. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Cougars.
Kingwood Park moved up to 420 from 493 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Panthers were able to move up by defeating Porter 50-6.
Kingwood Park's dynamic duo of Jaylon Henderson and Jordan Feurerbacher proved tough for the Spartans to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Henderson threw for 205 yards and 4 touchdowns and Feurerbacher had 130 yards receiving. Matthew Reyna helped Kingwood Park's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 38 yards.
Jim Holley's team's dynamic duo of Henderson and Feurerbacher proved to be unstoppable against Porter, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
He was 16-22 with 0 interception.
Aston Walter was a passing and rushing force as Crosby beat the Broncos. He completed 8 passes for 118 yards and also ran for 248 yards. Walter's key target this week was Vernon Allen, who caught 3 passes for 37 yards.
Austin Walter was the best running back in the league this week. In 30 carries, he ran for 278 yards as Jeff Riordan's team defeated Reno Moore's team.
Feurerbacher was the best receiver in 4A Region III District 19 this week as Kingwood Park topped the Spartans.
Henderson put up the best numbers through the air as the Panthers beat Porter.
Walter was a force in the backfield as the Cougars bested Dayton.
Crosby's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Cougars feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Walter has thrown for 819 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, while Raelon Singleton has 14 catches for 316 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Summer Creek takes on second place Crosby. Summer Creek bested New Caney last week, while Crosby topped the Broncos.
The Cougars' Walter needs only 5 yards against the Bulldogs next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Walter has rushed for 995 yards on 82 carries so far this year.
Two of the top teams in the league will go toe-to-toe this week when Crosby takes on Summer Creek. The Cougars' offense has racked up 206 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Brian Ford's team has allowed only 30 on the year.
The Spartans lost to Kingwood Park 50-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Marlon Lewis ran for 86 yards in the loss.
