On Tuesday, Gilbert got the win against Airport by a conclusive 3-0.
Gilbert was especially dominant in the first set. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-19, 25-18.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Gray Collegiate Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They came out on top against Aiken by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday.
Gray Collegiate Academy walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the fourth set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-20, 20-25, 25-13.
Gilbert better focus on containing Colby Branham and Haylen Lawson as the pair were huge in Gray Collegiate Academy's win. Branham had five digs and two aces, while Lawson had 17 digs and five assists. What's more, Lawson also posted a -40% hitting percentage, which is the highest she's achieved over her last five matches.
Gray Collegiate Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in ten consecutive contests.
Gray Collegiate Academy's win bumped their record up to 18-4. As for Gilbert, their victory bumped their record up to 13-8.
