On Friday, the Tikigaq Harpooners faced the Barrow Whalers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Tikigaq was beaten by Barrow 67-33. Tikigaq's loss keeps them winless this season.
Barrow found their leader in underclassman Alex Fruen, who scored 23 points along with nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaziah Tivao, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Tikigaq bumped their record down to 0-3 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Barrow, their win bumped their record up to 1-2.
Tikigaq and Houston will face off at 11:00 a.m. on December 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alaska (Houston is ranked 18th, while Tikigaq is ranked 23rd). Barrow and Valley View will face off at 3:00 p.m. on December 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Valley View knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Barrow likes a good challenge.
