The Lakewood Gators scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They strolled past Marlboro County with points to spare, taking the game 58-44. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Lakewood as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Leading Lakewood to victory were Kenyria Butler and Zakiya Hodge. Butler scored 14 points, while Hodge scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Butler has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Cisse, who scored eight points.
Lakewood's win bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Marlboro County, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakewood will face off against Lake City at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake City is on a five-game streak of home losses, Lakewood a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Marlboro County on the road again on Friday and play against Crestwood at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully Crestwood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Wednesday.
