Huntingdon can attribute much of their success to Colt Wood, who rushed for 67 yards and one TD. That's the most rushing yards Wood has posted since back in August. Lucas Smith got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Huntingdon was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 221 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 221 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.
Huntingdon didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Myles Pelonero and Smith. Smith got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, after only six points in their last game, Memphis Business Academy made sure to put some points up on the board against Trezevant on Thursday. The Execs really took it to the Bears for the full four quarters, racking up a 68-20 victory. The Execs pushed the score to 50-20 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bears had little chance of recovering from.
Huntingdon better keep an eye on Kobe Simmons. He was instrumental in Memphis Business Academy's win, rushing for 104 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven carries, while also throwing for 159 yards and two TDs while completing 75% of his passes. Simmons' passing game has become a key predictor of the Execs' success: the team is 5-2 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Lorenz Wright also helped out as he racked up 104 rushing yards.
Huntingdon's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Memphis Business Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Huntingdon has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 272.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Memphis Business Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 214.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground. Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other football content.
