Pace (Fla.) upset
Escambia (Pensacola, Fla.) 56-42 after a solid game from
Quaide Weimerskirch, who rushed for six touchdowns. Thanks to solid play, the junior now has 24 touchdowns for the year.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Weimerskirch in the second quarter, the Patriots were up 29-21 at the half.
Pace expanded its lead to 21 points entering the fourth quarter. PHS scored three times in the third, including once on a Weimerskirch touchdown run.
The victory avenged Pace's close 29-28 loss to the Gators last season.
The win brought Pace's winning streak to four games.
In a 6A District 1 game next week Pace (5-4) takes on Milton, and Escambia (6-2) will go up against Washington also in a 6A District 1 game.
