The Sioux County Warriors fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came out on top against Banner County by a score of 53-46 on Saturday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Sioux County also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Sioux County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but William Skavdahl led the charge by scoring 17 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Logan Monroe, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brendyn Onstott, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Onstott is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Olsen, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Banner County struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Sioux County racked up 14 assists.
Sioux County's victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-14. As for Banner County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.
Sioux County will head out on the road to square off against Crawford at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Banner County, they and Creek Valley will face off at 6:30 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nebraska (Creek Valley is ranked 269th, while Banner County is ranked 276th).
