Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Dundy County-Stratton Tigers, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell 36-28 to Howells-Dodge on Friday. Dundy County-Stratton's defeat signaled the end of their ten-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Dundy County-Stratton lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ethan Latta. Despite the final result, he rushed for 218 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. Latta was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 63 yards.
It was another big night for Hunter Luther, who rushed for 191 yards and two touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Howells-Dodge's defense and their four sacks. Leading the way was Oscar Dominguez and his two sacks.
Dundy County-Stratton's defeat dropped their record down to 10-1. As for Howells-Dodge, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
Dundy County-Stratton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Howells-Dodge will square off against Wynot at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wynot knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully Howells-Dodge likes a good challenge.
