This season hasn't been kind to the Leetonia Bears, who are still winless after their 12th match. They took a hard 34-16 fall against Memorial on Saturday. Leetonia was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Memorial apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2020.
Angeliz Diaz was a one-man wrecking crew for Memorial as she dropped a triple-double on 16 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 steals. That's the first time this season that Diaz scored 15 or more points.
Leetonia bumped their record down to 0-12 with that defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.3 points per game. As for Memorial, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leetonia will take on Southern at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Southern presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Leetonia in Ohio (Southern is ranked 314th, while Leetonia is ranked 800th). As for Memorial, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Liberty at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Liberty comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
