The Johnson Warriors will face off against the Burbank Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Johnson has six straight victories, Burbank has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Johnson's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on West Campus with a sharp 10-0 win. Johnson might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by seven runs or more this season.
Angelene Gonzales made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Naomi Quiroz was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kayla Madison, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.
Johnson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Campus only posted an OBP of .062.
Meanwhile, Burbank came up short against Armijo on Wednesday, falling 25-1. The match marked the Titans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Johnson pushed their record up to 11-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Burbank, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.
Everything went Johnson's way against Burbank in their previous meeting back in March, as Johnson made off with a 31-2 victory. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Titans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
