Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Lakewood Park Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a serious blow against Whitko, falling 68-41. Lakewood Park Christian has struggled against Whitko recently, as their game on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Ava Mcgrade, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals. That was a full 36.6% of Lakewood Park Christian's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Lilia West, who scored nine points.
Heritage bumped their record down to 1-15 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.5 points per game. As for Lakewood Park Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 13-5.
Heritage strolled past Lakewood Park Christian in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a score of 46-29. The rematch might be a little tougher for Heritage since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
