Baseball Recap: Chowchilla Wins Going Away Against Yosemite

After only two runs in their last matchup, Chowchilla made sure to put some runs up on the board against Yosemite on Friday. The Tribe put the hurt on the Badgers with a sharp 10-0 win. The Tribe might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.

Dillon Watkins made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Davian Stephenson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Austin Lathrop, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

Chowchilla was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Yosemite only posted a batting average of .067.

Chowchilla is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-13 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Yosemite, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season.

Chowchilla didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-0 win against Riverdale on the 12th. As for Yosemite, they will take on Parlier at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
